I got an Idea!

I was sitting at work trying to type out the 300 word note on my idea for Cannes. While writing it out a series of realizations begin to hit me, literally one after the other. What I learnt was probably something I knew always, though the importance of it had dawned on me now.

I learnt that the best ideas are the ones that are thought off when I am least inhibited. Boundaries and limitations confine the span of my ideation and all the clichéd ideas tumble out. It’s only when I have let go off expectation and have truly lost my mind thinking, does the idea pop. Being inhibited has so any levels to it. All this while I thought feeling inhibited only affected me if I was on the stage or in front of a huge crowd. I assumed that inhibition wouldn’t have anything to do with a profession like advertising. Except that it did affect me, albeit in a different way.

Now I’m going back to writing my Cannes note knowing that it would be different from what I set out to write.

Skater Girl

One of my most favorite things in the world is to skate. It's a different story that I don't get to skate at all now.

I was like 3 years old when my Dad taught me to skate. He himself learnt when he was in his late thirties. Ever since then I'd skate a lot. In fact, when we moved back to India that's how I made friends in my neighborhood. I got my entire gang to start skating with me. At one point of time I'd even got an opportunity to get into professional skating but decided not to.

Skating is so much fun. I just plug in my pod and take off for hours. I need to go buy a new pair cause my old ones are not only tight there also pretty worn out.

Soul Ink.

This illustration is going to be a part of my website. I wanted to create something that was completely mine, where I could put up everything from random doodles to the work I've done so far. I'm going to be making the website completely hand drawn and hand written. I have no clue how everything is going to shape up eventually, but I've started with drawing the site out already. I'm hoping to have everything up by the end of March. Wish me luck! Oh, if anyone can help me out with this, that would be great!

P.S: I'm calling my site Soul Ink. My colleague says it's too cheesy but I really don't care. I think it's perfect. I've designed the logo unit for it too. It looks pretty darn neat. :)

Card for Naty!

This has been long overdue. I meant to post this as a Christmas card for Naty, but I only got around to scanning it now.

Naty lives in Portugal and is my birthday sister. We met on this crazy game called Mafia. She's one of the sweetest people on the game, she also totally rocks!

Oh!bama

It's been more than a month since I last posted something. Work has been crazy and I didn't really get the time to sit down and write. After Obama was sworn in last night(India time)though, I decided I had to make the time.

A picture in today's newspaper caught my eye, a person holding up a poster that read,"We Have Overcome".Barack Obama created history by becoming America's first African-American President. It's a massive step forward but just the beginning. It's wonderful that the stereotype has finally been broken, but at the same time it's not over. Becoming the President is probably only the first hurdle cleared. His origins already pose a threat to his life as white supremacists are not happy with the outcome. While there are millions who are thrilled with the prospect of having Obama lead the country, others aren't too kicked about it.

His presidential speech was awe-inspiring and spell-binding as he spoke of the diversity of people that make the country and the way forward. After George Bush's shaky term at office and at a time when the country is reeling under recession, expectations from the people are high.

I personally am excited to see how things take shape. As a leader of the world's most powerful and influential country, how he runs the US will effect all of us.
